Ministry of Labour
Background
The Kenya Vision 2030 and the First Medium Term Plan 2008-2012 have identified human resource development as a critical foundation for national social and economic transformation.
The goal of the Vision in this area is to create a globally competitive and adaptive human resource base to meet the requirements of a rapidly industrializing economy.
Kenya’s global competitiveness will depend on its ability to create a human resource base that will be constantly subjected to skills upgrading and aligned to the needs of industry and technological changes.
Towards this, the Ministry of Labour and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), in collaboration with key stakeholders, conducted the National Manpower Survey to provide baseline data on labour and manpower statistics in the country.
