Title: Consultancy for Knowledge Attitudes and Practices (KAP) Survey on Reproductive Health and Safe Motherhood Assessment in Turkana districts
Location: Turkana districts of Rift Valley Province of Kenya
Duration: 17 days
Start Date: Upon signing the Contract
Reporting to: Merlin Kenya/Somalia Country Director
Background
Due to the marginalization of Turkana districts, health care delivery in these districts is extremely underdeveloped. This combined with other aspects of under development including low literacy rates and low knowledge of health issues among pastoral communities in Turkana districts have conspired to create the current state of affairs of inadequate delivery of maternal and child health care services and high maternal and child morbidity and mortality.

The Consortium of VSF Belgium, VSF Germany and VSF Switzerland are International NGOs whose mission is to improve the welfare of vulnerable populations in developing countries, through improving animal health and production.
The Consortium seeks to hire a consultant to conduct Participatory Impact Assessment on the Interactive Booklets on Children Drought Preparedness for Improved Community Response to Drought (ICRD) phase II project which is ECHO funded
Background
The overall goal of the project is to contribute to alleviating the impact of current drought and frequent drought cycles on the target vulnerable local communities in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Somalia.

Tanathi Water Services Board (TAWSB) is one of the eight regional Water Services Boards established under the water act 2002. The Board is a Government Parastatal established by the Ministry of water and Irrigation vide gazette notice No 69 of 4th June, 2008, with the legal mandate for provision water and sewerage services within the area of jurisdiction which covers 32 administrative Districts of Kitui central, Kitui West, Lower Yatta, Mutitu, Nzambani, Mutomo, Machakos, Athi-river, Kathiani, Mwala, Kangundo, Matungulu, Yatta, Masinga, Makueni, Kathonzweni, Mbooni east, Mbooni west, Nzaui, Kilungu, Mukaa, Makindu, Kibwezi, Mwingi West, Mwingi East, Mwingi central, Kyuso, Tseikuru, Muumoni, Loitoktok, Kajiado Central and Kajiado North.

Background
Plan is an international child-centered community development organization without political, religious or government affiliations. Child sponsorship is the basic foundation of the organization. Plan Kenya is implementing a financial education project in partnership with Child Savings Kenya (CSK) with financial support from Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Kenya.
Child Savings Kenya is a non governmental trust, which seeks to become a thought leader in Child Social and Financial Education (CSFE).
Objective
The overall purpose of the baseline survey is to establish the level of financial knowledge and existing skills among the
in and out of school children in Kisumu West district and Budalangi (Bunyala district), and the financial practices and
characteristics of the target communities.
