A leading private sector organization seeks to recruit a Research Manager.

The Research Manager will strengthen the capacity of marketing and programme staff to interpret and utilize the results of Qualitative research for purposes of evidence-based decision making.

You will work closely with research agencies to implement research activities in Kenya, while maintaining responsibility for the design of the research according to the organisations methodologies and, ultimately the quality of the research products. You will also work closely with health programs to ensure that the research findings assist them with decision making.

About this position

We are looking for someone who can contribute to the World Agroforestry Centre’s work in understanding the potential of markets and market-based interventions to reduce rural poverty in the developing world.

The person should have experience in conducting strategic research in value chain analysis, enterprise development, or standards and other market governance tools.

The job specifically includes the following duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct market research focusing on:

1. Value chain analysis including post-harvest handling, for agroforestry tree products
2. Consumer demand studies
3. Standards and other market governance tools, and/or
4. Enterprise development
5. Rural livelihoods, vulnerability, and risk-reducing mechanisms, and
6. Impacts of development interventions.

The research should be of global value leading to generation of new knowledge, methods, policies and capacity
