Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree
  • An ‘O’ level Certificate of at least mean grade C+ with grades (C+ and above) in English, Geography, Mathematics and or Physics;

Additionally, the candidates will be required to:

  • Pass an aptitude test for Air Traffic Controllers
  • Pass ICAO Class III medical Test
  • Be aged between 18 and 28 years

Note: For Air Traffic Control Officer – Trainees, the opportunity is open to both male and female candidates who have recently completed their studies and have no working experience. Female candidates are encouraged to apply. No salary will be paid to any trainee during the entire training period.

Chief AIS Inspector – Air Navigation Services, Aerodrome, and Meteorological Legislation & Enforcement

Reports To: Manager ANS, Aerodrome/Met Legislation & Enforcement

Job Purpose: To plan, organize and supervise the daily activities of the AIS oversight.

Scope of work/duties/responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and conduct the inspection, audit and surveillance activities of the AIS/MAP system and operations for approval/certification and continuous surveillance purposes including Cartography.
  • Review Air Navigation Service Regulations, Manuals of standards and guidance materials relevant to Aeronautical Information Services for amendments and/ or updates based on new amended ICAO SARPs and Documents
  • Identify and propose skills and resource requirements for AIS oversight and take corrective measures to achieve planned AIS oversight activities.
  • Prepare Aeronautical Information Services inspections/audit/surveillance reports for approval/certification, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Inspect and review the Aeronautical Information Services Quality management system to ensure its compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review Aeronautical Information Services inspections/audit and surveillance processes, forms, checklists and reporting mechanisms and propose changes for improvement.
  • Evaluate PANS-OPS Procedures Developed by the Air Navigation Service provider for approval purposes
  • Evaluate information published through the aeronautical information packages for accuracy and currency and proposes amendments.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager ANS/Aerodrome/Met.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree
  • Certificates in Basic AIS, AIS Supervisory, AIS Cartography, Quality Management System, AIP Management and Aeronautical Information exchange model data base.
  • Advanced PANS-OPS training

Experience

  • At least 2 years experience in a senior position within AIS/MAP

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of relevant ICAO standards and recommended practices, documents and the Kenya Civil Aviation Legislation
  • Ability to identify non-compliance issues and unsafe practices and to advise service providers on remedial actions
  • In-depth knowledge of AIS/MAP systems
  • Proficiency in office suite and desktop publishing tools

Reports To: Officer-In-Charge Air Navigation Services – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Job Purpose: To oversee the implementation of AIS operation including the NOTAM and relevant ICAO Standards and recommended practices at the station.

  • Coordinate the collection and timely submission of raw data at the station
  • Liaise with Station Manager on the needs in human resources and skills requirements
  • Liaise with training and development office to Perform staff appraisal, monitor and evaluate performances and report accordingly to the Station Manager.
  • Oversee the promulgation and updating of national and foreign NOTAM.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the OIC Station JKIA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree
  • A Certificate in Aeronautical Information Services from an ICAO recognized training institution
  • Training course in Middle level Management.
  • A certificate in Aeronautical Digital Cartography or Geographic Information System
  • Masters degree from a recognized university will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3 years experience in the Aeronautical Information Service operations and NOTAM office.

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems in AIS
  • Knowledge of AIXM database management system
  • Knowledge of PANS-OPS/Global Navigation Satellite System
  • Knowledge of relevant ICAO standards.
  • Proficiency in office suite and desk top publishing tools.

Job Purpose: To develop and implement Operational Procedures that will enable efficient and effective handling of any Search and Rescue incident occurring within the Nairobi Search and Rescue Region.

  • Perform distress monitoring at Rescue Coordination Centre by:-
  1. Monitoring communication and surveillance ,
  2. coordinating search and rescue functions and activities through the use of public and private resources, including cooperating aircraft, and medical evacuation
  • Coordinate annual Search and Rescue exercises.
  • Liaise with the parent ministry on Kenya’s aeronautical Search and Rescue agreements between Kenya and other states and participating agencies.
  • Participate in Aeronautical Search and Rescue activities as State representative when called upon by neighbouring states.
  • Update National Beacon Registration database in coordination with the International Beacon Registration database.
  • Develop the Search and Rescue training policy in coordination with the management.
  • Act as a resource person during Search and Rescue related courses.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the, Chief Air Traffic Services.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree.
  • An Air Traffic Control License with at least three Air Traffic Control ratings.
  • Training in Middle level Management.
  • Certificate in search and rescue operations.
  • Masters degree from a recognized university will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3 years experience in the air traffic control operations

  • Maintain Air Traffic Services accident and incident data base.
  • Resolve operational problems between regions and ATS units and makes recommendations.
  • Liaises with Air Traffic Services units to ensure appropriate distribution of personnel responsibility and workload.
  • Maintain liaison with aviation organizations, including local aerodromes committees, civil/military cooperation, Flight Information Regions.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the Manager Air Traffic services.
