Title: Accountant

Reports to: Managing Director

Direct Reports   

General task:

The accountant will be involved in coordination of the accounting function at the client organization.

S/he will be responsible for financial reporting, budget preparation, tracking of expenditure as well as preparation and presentation of statutory returns.

Specific tasks:

• Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
• Handle the general ledger and monthly close process to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information in the company.
• Prepare budgets, track expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels
• Preparing variance analysis reports.
• Interact with external auditors and work on recommendations for the same.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Admin Support/ Finance Assistant will provide temporary financial assistance in the remission process in order to clear the existing backlog due in support of the new processes being implemented.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge applications for VAT and duty remission.
• Follow up remission applications with Government departments.
• Keep records of remission documents.
• Maintain various tracking registers i.e. supplier invoices, payments and enforce documentation compliance.
• Work closely with logistics department to carry out periodic document review to ensure agent compliance and ensure bonds are discharged within time.
