The Government of Kenya entered into a Credit Facility Agreement (CFA) with Agence Francaise De Development
(AFD) in May2005 for a facility underthe project Microfinance Sector Support Credit (MFSSC) to finance the deepening
of the Microfinance Sector to support financial inclusion in Kenya.
The MFSSC project has three components: i.e. refinancing Component, Capacity Building for wholesaler banks and Capacity Building for the second tier MFIs and SACCOs who are the direct borrowers from the participating wholesaler banks. In turn, the second tier institutions provide financial services to the targeted excluded.
