Major Duties and Responsibilities:

This role is primarily that of being the principal assistant to the Police Commissioner by coordinating the activities of all other officers of the senior leadership team and also for providing strategic advice to the Police Commissioner, as well as advisory and coaching support to national authorities to enhance public security and the maintenance of the law and order, develop frameworks for the development of the local police and management of police personnel of the AU Police Component of AMISOM. Job Title: Senior Public Information Officer (Spokesperson)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Communication and Information Technology Officer will work under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and will be responsible for the following duties: .

Personnel Management

• Provide key media service as Spokesperson/Principal Liaison to local and international media organizations. Hold Press Briefings; write Press Releases and other diverse range of information communications in support of AMISOM’s mandate and the Mission objectives. Carry out aggressive and strategic utilization of Mission’s achievements at press briefings. Assist the Head of Mission in explaining the mission’s work to the local and international public, both directly and through the media.

Job Title: Senior Legal Officer
Grade: P4

Supervisor: Head of Mission (HOM)/SRCC
Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Legal Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of Mission (HOM)/SRCC and will be responsible for the following duties:.

• Provide legal advice to the Head of Mission (HOM)/SRCC regarding AMISOM Mandates as well as issues of constitutional and other national law as they affect the political process. Support and advise the SRCC on all legal matters.
• Advise on administrative, personnel and contractual matters including privileges and immunities, Status of Forces Agreement, Status of Mission Agreement, procurement matters, the legal arrangements for any Government-owned premises provided to AMISOM, third party claims against AMISOM operations as well as legal questions relating to interpretation of African Union regulations and rules. Handle a wide range of multi-discipline, complex, sensitive and conflicting legal matters issues relating to international, public, private and administrative law including interpretation and application of legal procedures. Provide advice on, as appropriate to supervise and oversee the review, negotiation and drafting of major contracts, agreements, institutional and operational modalities, legal submissions and other legal documents.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Human Resources Officer will work under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and will be responsible for the following duties: note, these duties are generic.

Personnel Management

• Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the incumbent is responsible for the daily operations of the Personnel section to ensure the operational systems, policies, guidelines and SOPs are in place. Also acts as a certifying officer.
• Undertake personnel tasks, such as, developing and managing the organizational chart, staffing table, vacancy rate, recruitment, and personnel administration. Ascertain staffing requirements and submits staffing proposal for approval and submission to AU-HR to commence the recruitment.

• Prepare plans and operational implementation for communication strategies relating to AMISOM.
