The Kenya National Youth Talent Academy Background

The Kenya National Youth Talent Academy is a project of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MOYAS), the Ministry of Education and UNICEF Kenya.

This project sets out to establish “Talent Academies” (TA) which is an initiative that seeks to engage and challenge the vulnerable adolescents and youths through an innovative approach that taps into their talent in order to boost their opportunities and self confidence for improved livelihoods, in line with their aspirations and possibly the needs of the communities in which they live.

In this pilot phase, the project aims to train 500 talented out of school youth to empower them and build their confidence and sense of purpose through skills and talent development over an initial nine month to period through use of the Talent Academy model as a basis for a more systematic integration of youth needs and aspiration within the GOK national planning and budgeting system.
