Advertisement for the Recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets and Tradesmen/Women into the Armed Forces in Kenya

The Kenya Armed Forces is pleased to announce to the general public that there will be a recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets and Tradesmen/Women soon.

Prospective candidates wishing to apply must possess the following relevant requirements.


  • Must be Kenyan citizens.
  • Age: Between 18 and 26 years old.
  • Be medically fit.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Minimum Height: 5 ft 3 in. (5’3”).
  • Minimum Weight:
  • Men – 54.55 Kg (120 lb).
  • Women – 50.00 Kg (110 lb).
  • Women candidates must NOT be pregnant.


  1. General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets A minimum of mean grade B (Plain) in KCSE with minimum subject grade of C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and in any one of the Pure Sciences (Physics, Chemistry or Biology)
  2. Tradesmen/Women
  • Technicians: A minimum of mean grade C- (Minus) in KCSE, a relevant diploma or above from a recognized Institution and be registered with the relevant statutory bodies, where applicable.
  • Artisans: A minimum of mean grade D (Plain) in KCSE and either a relevant certificate with Government Trade Test Grade II or Craft II from a recognized Institution.

  • Clinical Medicine & Surgery (Registered Clinical Officers) including higher/advanced diploma holders in Anaesthesiology
  • Community Health Nursing (Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses) including higher/advanced diploma holders in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

  • P h a r m a c y / P h a r m a c e u t i c a l Technology
  • Environmental Health Sciences/Community & Public Health
  • Dental Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option)
  • Mechanical Engineering (Production Option)

Candidates who are shortlisted will be notified through the print media between:

  • 7th and 15th August 2010 for the case of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets
  • 2nd and 10th October 2010 for the case of Tradesmen/Women
