Job Description

Job Title: Project Officer – Surveys and Surveillance
Start date: June 1st, 2010
Report to: Urban Nutrition Program Manager

Basic position description:

The Survey and Surveillance Project officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing surveillance, survey and other assessments, conducting data analysis and writing survey reports.

The project officer will be expected to train and build capacity of Ministry of Health and partner staff in conducting surveillance and surveys and also produce brief reports for inputs to the national nutrition bulletin as well representing Concern at national nutrition information working group.

Position involves:

• Managing several camps in Mara
• Management of the organisation’s camp staff, items and facilities and installations
• Handling of employees disciplinary matters and grievances at the camp level and to coordinate the same with the organisation’s camp manager and human resource manager
• Coordination and supervision of all administrative issues touching on management of camps and attendant items, logistics, vehicles, including data and maintenance of records to ensure they are updated and in a form for purposes of effective management information systems.
• The position is NBI based with travel to projects in Narok South periodically.

Qualifications:

1.  Introduction

VSF-Suisse is an International NGO, supporting community based animal health programmes, food aid and food security, rehabilitation and development programmes in the Horn of Africa (HoA) region since 1995.

In Southern Sudan, VSF-Suisse implements projects in Unity, Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal (NBEG) States. VSF Suisse is currently implementing the MARF¹/MDTF² funded LFDP³ Project in Unity State, which runs from 1st February to 31st July 2010.

The overall goal of the project is to facilitate the rapid recovery and restoration of livestock based rural livelihoods of Southern Sudanese agro-pastoralists through improved animal health services delivery system via the public and private sectors.
